This photograph was taken on September 12, 2007 in Concord, Massachusetts. This Minuteman statue sits by the Old North Bridge; the birthplace of the American Revolution. The first stanza of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s poem “Concord Hymn” is engraved on a placard at the base of the sculpture. It reads;
“By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.”
